2017 KRC Community Summit

March 30th, 2017

1/4

As part of the Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative’s commitment to building and expanding an emergent learning culture, KRC hosts a community conversation at least once a year. Priority goals are to:

  • understand the work accomplished in moving the goals of the KRC early learning strategic plan forward,

  • gain consensus on next steps for both current strategies and new ideas to test, and

  • provide open space for exploring opportunities, making connections and learning from leaders in the kindergarten readiness sector.

This is accomplished in a Summit-style setting, through story-telling, celebration, group learning and interactive discussion. The target audience is any individual or organization (for profit as well as nonprofit) interested and/or engaged in the early learning sector. KRC has hosted 6 community Summits over the last 3 years.

The group of over 65 leaders launched valuable conversations, reflected on learnings and explored opportunities to partner with other like-minded colleagues. We dialogued and brainstormed on burning questions around joint-funding opportunities, connecting families with community services, defining kindergarten readiness and communicating with families, and ways to empower community partners and share learning across the early childhood sector. The team-building activities created powerful insights about the working together, and attendees left feeling energized.

Special thanks to the 2017 Summit Planning Committee:

Kerry Bartlett, VNA of the Treasure Coast, co-chair

Andrea Berry, Healthy Start Coalition of Indian River County, co-chair

Sally Alkayaly, Little Rising Stars

Pat Blackburn, Beachland PTA

Burning Question dialogue notes...

What does it take for community agencies to work together and invest in collaborative opportunities, such that they would seek joint funding opportunities?
